GLACIER | Part 5

After spending the first part of the day at Two Medicine in East Glacier, we drove the entire length of the Going to the Sun Road, the main road that intersects the park, and has the most incredible views! We made plenty of stops along the way, including a stop at the Goat Study Area just below Logan Pass. We got up close and personal with a few goats - they were shedding or moulting or something, they looked absolutely ridiculous! And some of them had trackers on them (hence the "study"). It was cool that the goats were so humanized, they would walk right along the pathways with us, but made sure to let us know if we were getting too close!

We made it to West Glacier, and drove out the entrance to Hungry Horse, MT where we would be staying for the final two nights of the trip at Tamarack Lodge! Each of us (couples) got a room, and it was so nice to have a real bed and hot shower for the remainder of the trip! Devin was glad to have some free wi-fi and TV to wind down to at the end of each day, too!

When we had hiked Red Rock Falls, we came across a group of three older couples and stopped and talked with them for awhile. We told them we would be spending the last half of our trip in West Glacier and they told us we had to make it out to Whitefish (another city outside the park). They said it was a resort town with a younger crowd, and we would love it. So, after checking in at Tamarack Lodge, we drove out to Whitefish for some dinner. This was hands down our favorite part of the trip outside of the park. We were all checking Yelp on the drive into Whitefish to find a good place for dinner, and decided on The Craggy Range - it was so amazing! Some of the best food ever! The town really was pretty resort-y (think Park City, but during the off season). After dinner we walked around some of the stores and shops - everything closed super early, though! We ended up at Red Caboose for some frozen yogurt to end the night. It was perfect!

Being in such a gorgeous place with your favorite person in the entire world really just gives you all kinds of mushy feelings. I'm pretty sure I fell in love with him all over again on this trip - we were both in heaven!

waterfalls ran down right onto the road like this in a lot of places. there is a stretch of the Going to the Sun Road called the "weeping wall" because the entire wall face is just constantly running with water. Driving past the weeping wall one day, we were stuck behind a Jammer, which is one of those adorable old school red tour busses that are all over the park, filled with tourists, and the driver of the bus swerved under the wall and soaked all it's passengers (the busses have open roofs/windows during the warmer season)! It was hilarious!

A random picture of Devin and Ryan getting frozen yogurt? This place was so cute! Their frozen yogurt was so expensive though, haha! Chelsey got me hooked on my new favorite combo: tart yogurt + FRUITY PEBBLES. un.be.lie.va.ble.
