GLACIER | Part 4

Glacier National Park is bear country. They warn you about it constantly, there are signs everywhere, and bear spray for sale everywhere. They have both black and grizzly bears in the park, and I wanted to see one SO BAD. On this day, we did!!! We were in the car on our way to breakfast in East Glacier and came across what they call a "bear jam" - which is just a bunch of tourists stupidly stopping in the middle of the road to look at a bear, haha! BUT if it weren't for the bear jam, we wouldn't have noticed this cutest black bear up on the hillside! The bear is clearly brown, so we thought right away he was a grizzly, but after looking into it more, we realized that 1) black & grizzly bears aren't named after the color of their fur, and 2) this guy clearly has the black bear hump! He was seriously adorable. I'm glad we saw him from a safe distance, and didn't come across him on a trail though! It made my entire day!!! I would have died happy if we saw some baby cubs though, because I mean, come on!

We continued our drive past the huge, and beautiful Lower Two Medicine Lake, and then went to Luna's for breakfast! Devin claims it was the best biscuits & gravy he's ever had (which is hands down his favorite thing to order for breakfast), but I think Luna's has since stopped serving breakfast! So sad.

Next, we drove to Two Medicine Lake, where we had scheduled a boat tour! We knew we wanted to structure our trip slightly, and were trying to decide between a boat tour or horseback riding, or even doing both, but at 25 weeks pregnant? Horseback riding was a no. haha. We got to the lake pretty early, and it was UNREAL. Truly an unforgettable place, it was just absolutely gorgeous. We loved exploring, and ended up going on a quick 1/2 mile hike to Paradise Point, for a different view of the lake - equally gorgeous!

Not long after, it was time to board the Sinopah! The Sinopah is a super old, wooden boat that's been running on this lake for...ever. The entire park, East Glacier especially, has a lot of Indian history, with the Blackfoot Indians, so a lot of things in the park have names of Indian Origin, like Sinopah, and Two Medicine. We learned a ton of cool history about the area as we cruised around the lake on the boat. The crew was really cool, and we even got to go out onto the bow for awhile!

Okay I realize I look ridiculous here. I've long since decided that the hat was a huge mistake this day. Huge mistake.
