What's In My Bag

bag : target, duh. i had actually seen this bag on the wishlist of a friend of a friend's blog and immediately fell in love. then, when i realized it was from target, and marginally inexpensive, i knew i had to have it. shortly after, i featured it on my own wishlist and my parents got it for me for christmas. i've been absolutely obsessed ever since. the front pocket with the clasp is where i usually keep my phone, so there isn't anything else in there. one of the zipper pockets on the side houses my car keys (my keys are almost always in there, since my car is keyless entry) and the other zipper pocket is full of eucalyptus cough drops. i don't care what you say, these are the best. they are just Hall's, they come in a blue bag, and they are magic. they don't taste great, and they give you weird breath, but they work and they're all i use. i almost always have a handful within arm's reach of me in the winter.

wallet : also target. so listen, my old wallet was really great and almost exactly what i wanted, but it was getting old and discolored and falling apart, so i bought this one on a bit of a whim and i like it, i mean i'm fine with it, but it's a little small. any amount of change makes it near impossible to close, and it's hard to stuff cash in there, but it's whatever. i think next time i get a wallet, i will shop target online, because i know exactly what i'm looking for, i know their brands, and they have a larger slection. but for now, this one will do.

headphones : yes, these are the apple headphones that came with my iPhone 5s, and yes, i still keep them in the little box. they are surprisingly easy to wrap back up in there. it keeps them clean, untangled, and easy to find. it's just the way it goes. i don't use headphones a ton, or else I'd probably get sick of taking them in and out of there, but it hasn't bothered me yet.

lint roller : ha. an unopened travel size lint roller (i am a major sucker for the travel size toiletry aisle, by the way). i think the only reason i have this is because there were several instances in a row during which i desperately could have used a lint roller, but didn't have one, so i got one. and haven't needed it since. the way it always works, no?

tampons : no sugar coating this part! i also keep a stash in the glove boxes of both mine and devin's cars (he's actually come to the rescue of a few gym-goers, thanks to said stash). you just never know. i keep them in this green bag (an oldie from bath and body works. it was a little travel size kit of their stress relieving aromatherapy line, circa 2010 ish), to stay a little discreet. i happily share the wealth when fellow women are in need, because why not?! solidarity, sisters!

lotion : did i ever tell you i worked at bath and body works? while i was dating devin, it's true. i quit before we got married, but it was a fun job, and the formula for their lotions is unparalleled! i'm a huge freak about keeping my hands moisturized. in fact, i'm pretty weird about how they feel in general, so i'm constantly applying lotion. this one, Aspen Caramel Woods was in their fall collection for 2013 and I wish I would have stocked up because it smells amazing! Hopefully it comes back this fall.

pens : a constant stream of pens, everywhere i go. purse-filler junk. comes in handy. you know.

hand sanitizer : like i said, i'm a huge freak about my hands, which means i almost always despise the soap in public bathrooms. i'll wash my hands in their sink, then apply hand sanitizer, then lotion. i just, i don't know. it's necessary.

receipts : there's always random paperwork floating around in my purse. usually receipts and post it notes. i hate it, but it happens. i'm a chronic list maker and note taker. and yes, one of those is a tithing receipt... ha.

burt bees lemon butter cuticle cream : i'm pretty sure hang nails are genetic in my family because both my sisters are serious hang nail biters. this cuticle cream smells amazing and works wonders. i always have it on hand and i use it almost daily.

pill box with a creepy lady on it : i got this little pill bottle from my mom, i think. super random. my whole life, she's always had a little pill bottle in her purse with a cocktail of medications inside, and i've grown accustomed to keeping advil on hand. except i'm positive that thing is empty right now...

endless hair ties and bobby pins : allllllways. and so necessary. i have long, thick hair. it's essential.

no less than 6 lip products : this is almost a joke. it's usually not quite this many in there, but i'll throw in whatever color i'm wearing that day, and this is endless entertainment for my nieces. the ones here are revlon colorburst in "cherish", a baby lips chapstick... not sure which one.blue bottle, pink writing... the sweet mint e.o.s. balm (obsessed), vaseline lip therapy treatment (which i only even purchased because baby vaseline jar!) my trusted and loved chapstick brand chapstick: medicated (literally the greatest chapstick in the world. my husband and i both use it, which is nice because he doesn't wince or complain when we kiss haha), and the last one is a pomegranate, green tea lotus something or other balm i got about 50 years ago in jackson hole at teton mountaineering, and it smells like paradise.
